DishoomFull time

Junior Designer

Whitechapel£30,600- £32,000 - dependent on experience

WE’RE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE SPIRITED, CREATIVE, RESOURCEFUL, SUPER-ORGANISED AND BIG-HEARTED GRAPHIC DESIGNER TO JOIN US AT DISHOOM.

This is a brilliant opportunity for an emerging graphic designer to find their feet within a first-class creative team at an award-winning, much-loved restaurant company. You'll be based at Dishoom's Babu* House (head office) in Shoreditch, sitting within a close-knit creative team alongside copywriters and brand managers. You'll report directly to our Senior Designer, with mentorship and guidance from our Head of Design, learning the craft, contributing ideas, and helping bring 'our' Bombay to life across everything we make.

Dishoom takes an unusual approach to creative. We don't live and die by brand guidelines; instead, we bring to life ‘our Bombay’, everything we create needs to feel at home in this sepia-tinted, warm-hearted, slightly barmy world. As our Junior Designer, you'll get stuck into real work from day one, with plenty of mentorship, creative freedom, and room to grow.

What you'll be working on

  • Supporting the design team across a wide range of projects for both Dishoom and Permit Room – from restaurant menus and table collateral to digital assets and packaging.
  • Bringing fresh eyes and innovative ideas to life across various different touchpoints (restaurants, store, delivery, events and digital) for both in-restaurant and at-home customers.
  • Helping ensure our existing restaurants always look and feel their very best.
  • Assisting with the production of print and digital assets, making sure everything is polished to the last pixel.
  • Collaborating with copywriters and brand managers to ensure creative work is consistent and considered across the board.
  • Learning the Dishoom world inside out – and becoming a true guardian of the brand.

What we're looking for

  • Up to 2 years of experience in a design studio, agency, in-house or equivalent – or a brilliant graduate portfolio that stops us in our tracks.
  • A portfolio that shows real curiosity and range, even if it's still growing.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite – Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign to start
  • A genuine love of typography, craft and the details most people walk past.
  • Curious, sparky, eager to learn – someone who asks good questions and brings a point of view.
  • Organised and reliable, with a good instinct for when something just isn't quite right yet.
  • Big-hearted, warm and genuinely lovely with everyone – this one's non-negotiable.
  • Any interest in print production, packaging or motion is a lovely bonus.
  • A fondness for Bombay, Indian culture, or just a good chai – always helpful.

Some benefits you’d get joining us:

  • Regular team events and a weekly team lunch get-together in Babu House.
  • Team discounts – 50% during the day, 25% in the evening in all of our Cafes and Permit rooms… and 25% from Dishoom at Home
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays (plus a day for our Family Mela and another for our Christmas Party).
  • Access to a huge discount network saving you money on everything from flights to groceries.
  • Subsidised yoga & gym memberships.
  • An exciting role in a growing business where you can have a huge impact.

Salary is £30,600–£32,000 depending on experience.

Please submit your CV and portfolio by Friday 1st May - We can't wait to see what you've made!
